Toward the end of the week, Tom announced that he was ready to go back to his “other family at Koebel House.” That tells me that Home Life is meeting Tom’s need to belong. It reassures me that he will continue to feel this way after I am no longer around.
We provide a foundation of love to help our residents overcome any obstacles and disappointments experienced throughout life. Since 1983, we have been committed to helping our participants achieve their goals in an environment that safeguards their human rights, individual dignity and personal well-being. Home Life is a growing non-profit with a Residential Program with seven group homes, Supported Living Programs, and a Vocational Program. Each of these promotes independent living skills and community integration.
Supported and Community Living
Clients will work with Home Life staff to develop basic employment skills. We will focus on resume building, best practices in on-site work behavior, attendance, and social appropriateness, along with common entry-level job skills such as customer service, courtesy clerk, and janitorial tasks. In addition to basic employment skills, we offer courses that help clients increase their skills in specific areas such as cashiering or writing.
Our highly trained staff have a set standard in providing individualized services that offer freedom, independence, respect, dignity and rights that will guarantee the best quality of life. L.I.F.E. homes seek to provide a family atmosphere with individuals sharing responsibility for the appearance of the home. Participation is determined by each person’s program plan which includes annual goals for personal growth and progress towards increased independence. Some people want help managing a household, some people want support to develop skills and other people want help with personal care.

Emphasis for all Intellectual Disability Care, including Life, Inc Albemarle Group Home, since the program's implementation in 1988 is on helping people live in their own homes, controlling their own lives, and being members of their home communities. Active community involvement tailored to the abilities and interest of the individual is the goal of Residential Services. Whether through living in a Group Home or an ALU or through supports in the individual’s own home, L.I.F.E. assists the individual to reach their maximum potential.
They were so great and had welcomed her in such a way that I felt completely comfortable saying “she is all yours”. This was a real success all the way through and a great example of what Home Life Inc. Community Living Supports was started in 2016 and has operated under a few different names since then. Individuals utilizing Community Living Supports have chosen Home Life to be one piece of their support network and typically have other provider agencies or PSW’s to fulfill the rest of their support needs. The team that operates both programs consists of one Program Coordinator, three Program Managers, and one group of Direct Support Professionals.
